**Job Description:** Airbus Helicopters is looking for a student for a PhD thesis on the safe and standard-compliant use of AI in the aeronautical field. You will join the "Data & Health and Usage Monitoring System" department within the Airbus Helicopters design office, located in Marignane, where you will be responsible for investigating new 'certifiable' solutions that ensure the reliability and interpretability of AI models built from flight data and used to improve - among other things - helicopter maintenance and flight safety. **Context** The large volumes of data generated by connected objects, combined with ever-increasing processing capabilities, open the door to diverse applications of machine learning in industry. Monitoring the health of industrial equipment - deciding whether it can be used reliably - is an example of these applications, where machine learning is already exploited, particularly for anomaly detection in signals emanating from the equipment, in order to anticipate potential failures. In the highly regulated aeronautical field, where certification is omnipresent, machine learning applications are also numerous but often critical, in the sense that poor decision-making can imply not only economic losses and customer dissatisfaction but also human losses. Therefore, these decisions must be based on data or processes whose behavior can be demonstrated, guaranteed reliable, and interpretable.
